The core difference
Classic lashes follow a simple rule: one extension attached to one natural lash. Because each natural lash can only safely carry one extension, classic gives a defined, “mascara-on-good-lashes” look. Volume works differently — your artist hand-makes a tiny fan of several ultra-fine, lightweight extensions and places that whole fan on a single natural lash. More tips per lash means a softer, fuller, fluffier effect.
Hybrid sits between the two: a mix of single classic lashes and volume fans. It is a brilliant starting point if you cannot decide, giving texture and a little extra density without the full drama of volume.
Which one suits you?
If your natural lashes are already fairly full and you want a polished, natural enhancement, classic is perfect. If your lashes are sparse or fine and you want to create the impression of density, volume or hybrid fills the gaps far better — single classic extensions on sparse lashes can look spidery. Think also about maintenance: the softer, denser volume look tends to disguise shedding gaps a little longer between fills.
Aftercare and refills
Lashes shed naturally on a roughly six-week cycle, so extensions thin out gradually and most people book a refill every two to three weeks. To protect both the extensions and your own lashes: keep them dry for the first few hours, avoid oil-based cleansers and heavy creams near the eyes, do not rub or pick, and brush them with a clean spoolie each morning. Sleeping on your back or on a silk pillowcase helps too.
A good lash artist will never overload a thin lash — proper weight selection is what keeps your natural lashes healthy underneath. See our lash services to book a set matched to your eyes, or explore our courses if you want to train in lash mapping and application yourself.
Common questions
FAQNot when they are applied correctly. Damage comes from extensions that are too long or heavy for the natural lash, from glue clumping lashes together, or from rubbing and picking. With the right weight, one isolated lash per attachment point, and gentle aftercare, your natural lashes keep their normal growth cycle.
